Mysti lifted her nose from the ground and looked up at the deer. ‘Strange that she doesn’t have a herd. Is there a fawn nearby? Or a buck?’ She scented the air, but all she could smell was the doe. ‘Well then she must be stupid, or she hid the fawn well. Either way, it should be an easy kill if her mate doesn’t show up. If there is one anyway…’ She shook her head to clear it. Of course, I’ve been ready since I woke up.

Be careful, watch the hooves. Why was that voice so familiar?

‘Leave me the Hell alone! Can’t you see I’m hunting?’

‘Shut up! If you throw me off so help me I will-’

Just watch them, okay? It was weaker now, but more urgent.

‘Fine, whatever.’

No response. She looked around for the source of the voice, but all she saw was Kanashi and the doe. ‘I don’t smell anything either. Strange.’ Do you want me to drive her towards you, or do you want to drive her towards me? She asked, feeling the adrenaline pounding through her veins.

Msyti kept an eye on Kanashi until he sank down into the grass, then began to crawl around the deer. 'This spot should be good. If it goes straight, it'll go right to him.' She crept closer and closer to it until she would have to leave the bushes to continue. She waited a moment, studying the land to make sure there wasn't any[ deep ditches or fallen trees, then she took off.

The deer hesitated for a moment, then bounded away. Almost immediately Mysti noticed that she was falling behind instead of gaining on it. She started panting heavily, as though she had been running for hours. 'Damn it.' she growled to herself, trying to push herself to move faster.

Mysti eventually caught up, panting heavily, and dug her teeth into the throat. Blood flooded her mouth and began running out of the corners. She crouched down and hung onto it, growling lightly and shaking her head. Even after it was dead she stubbornly hung on. So much for my warning. I AM going nuts she thought, noticing that the deer was no longer bleeding but not letting go.
